With some of the
youngest and most talented musicians from South
Louisiana, Kevin Naquin and the Ossun Playboys is
one of the hottest Cajun bands to come out of the
swamps. Their fire and drive keep the dance floor
packed and the band popular!

With veteran Cajun
musicians eager to play with this young band whose
talent and sound defy their years.
Kevin and his
playboys are on a mission to bring their blend of
Cajun and dance hall groove to the world. Kevin
Naquin is South Louisiana's newest son whose musical
role continues a legacy of great accordionists and
band leaders.
Drummer Dwayne
Lavergne is from Carencro. His father, Ray Lavergne
is in the Cajun music hall of fame and has played
and recorded with many musicians. He started playing
the drums at the tender age of 12 and has been
playing with the Ossun Playboys since December 1998.
The band's fiddler
is Louis Dronet who has been playing his instrument
since age 14. He became interested in the fiddle
when his father started taking fiddle lessons with
Ron Sonnier.
Louis went along
with his father and learned to play. After only
three months of lessons with Ron, Louis was playing
at different jam sessions with other musicians.
Later he took a few lesons with Tony Thibodeaux and
Travis Matte. He has been with the Ossun Playboys
since April of 1999. Louis was CFMA Fiddler of the
Year and nominated in 2000 and 2002. He's a member
of the Cajun French Music Association and a
recipient of the 1998 CFMALafayette Chapter New Dawn
Award.
Kevin Naquin and
the Ossun Playboys had the "Best Recording of the
Year" entitled "Bayou Groove." They have also been
noted as the "Band of the Year" and received
recognition for their "Song of the Year" entitled
C'est Trop Tard (It's Too Late). All of that was
just for 2004.
Prior to that, in
2002, they were recognized by the Cajun French Music
Association, named Band of the Year. That same year
they also had the Record of the Year and the
Accordionist of the Year. In 2000 they had won all
the same accolades PLUS Male Vocalist of the Year!
In 1997 they won
the Lafayette Chapter New Dawn Award and in 1994
received an award for Junior Accordion
Player-Mulates.
